Celebrate the Goddess of Mercy Guan Yin Renunciation Day at Thian Hock Keng
Thian Hock Keng will be commemorating Goddess of Mercy Guan Yin Renunciation Day on 28 October (Wednesday). Devotees are welcomed to register your names to be listed on the blessings scripture and lotus lanterns as well as participate in the bridge crossing: https://tinyurl.com/THK3GYD26
The Blessings Ritual will commence at 9am with the chanting of the “Lotus Sutra’s Universal Gate Chapter on Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Guan Yin)”. We welcome devotees to join in the ritual and gain auspicious merits from accepting and upholding the name of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Guan Yin).
Additionally, at 11am, the temple will be conducting the Bridge Crossing ritual. As stated in the Heart Sutra, Prajnaparamita refers to illuminating life through wisdom, transcending worldly afflictions and moving towards the shore of enlightenment. The Bridge Crossing ritual carries this exact meaning: with every step and every thought, crossing the bridge is not merely walking across a physical structure but a symbolic journey from this shore of afflictions toward the opposite shore of purity, wisdom and peace.
Under the compassionate protection of Goddess of Mercy Guan Yin, may devotees be blessed as they cross the bridge, gaining wisdom and enjoying peace and well-being in both body and mind.
